WHY ROLLER HOCKEY AND WHY YOUR KIDS SHOULD BE PLAYING

 WHY ROLLER HOCKEY....
The simple fact is that it is fun. We have coached hundreds of players at all levels and we cannot remember anyone leaving the rink without a smile and without a deep desire to return and play again. Roller hockey is new to so many players and parents which only add to the excitement. Those of us that have played for a few years liken the experience to the best times from our youth when we got our buddies together after the pond has frozen to play wide-open hockey for hours. Playing roller hockey is as fun as it gets!
Also, with the high cost of ice time around the country, roller hockey is fast becoming an alternative to ice for many kids and their families.
The game of roller hockey is played 4 on 4 with no icings or off-sides. It is impossible to play roller hockey and not improve your confidence carrying and moving the puck. The game is so fast paced and every player must participate in the action. Each player will improve their skating, stick handling, passing and shooting skills and in time their creative skills will be developed and/or enhanced! Another important benefit is that players will recognize quickly how critical it is to utilize their teammates to be successful.
There have been a lot of misconceptions about roller hockey that we want to correct:
Roller hockey is played indoors and outdoors on a rink with a puck.
The roller hockey skating stride is the same as the ice hockey stride
You can do a hockey stop on wheels just like you do with blades on the ice
You wear full equipment ( Although pants and upper body armor are lighter then Ice equipment)
It is at least “as fast paced” as ice hockey
More pro ice hockey players are crediting roller hockey for their development. Just look at the partial list of names of players who have played roller hockey at the highest levels and where they’re playing now.
